Just Wanna Be Yo Girl

*- This is a free-write story. Im in the mood to write. Hopefully this will last-*

"How far can ya go? I wanna see ya work out for me, work out for me." J.Cole blasted through my iHome speakers. Moving my hips to the bass, I started snapping. You know how the old folks get when a old school song comes on. "Chanel!" My mothers loud southern drawl cut through the music. "Yes ma'am?" I muted the music then stood in the doorway of my room. "Can you turn that noise down? I have company." Great, she's forever inviting people over with out my consent. "Whew." Letting out a long breath, I untied my hair and let it flow down my back. I had a decent amount of hair thanks to my Mama for taking care of it all these years. Opening up my window I sat in the window sill and watched the neighbour hood boys play basket ball in the street. I'm guessing it's a game of horse. I never really pay too much attention to these guys until they're under my window playing that good ol' basketball. Mama tells me to stay away from boys like I'm some little girl who believes boys still have cooties. I'm almost 18. I have 56 days until my big day. And 37 days until my graduation. Im a senior in high school if you didnt know. I've been going to Franklin High since the end of my sophomore year when I moved to Springfield. Springfield is a small town in Virginia. Before moving to Springfield , we've lived in Georgia, Texas, California, New York and in Canada. What can I say my Mom loves to travel. Mom finally decided to settle down when she met Roderick Davis. He's a local pharmacist and when he's not that he's a coach for Franklin High's basketball team. At first I didnt think Roderick was my Mom's type, hell I didnt know if my Mom had a type since her and my Dad split up. Yeah yeah, sob story I'm over it now. Mom and Dad seem to be happy with their lives. Besides the fact I like Roderick, he treats my Mom well and keeps a kool-aid smile on her face. He's also the closest thing I have to a father figure since my Dad moved back to Italy. "Hey!" A booming voice invaded my thoughts. Looking down I saw one of the boys that was playing basketball waving at me. "Um hey." I waved. I wonder how long was he yelling for me? "Come outside." "No thank you." I climbed out my window sill and leaned outside the window. The sun's warm embraced covered my face. "Why? You're always couped up in your house like a rat." Shaking my head at the boy, I smiled because he was telling the truth. I didnt bang with too many people in the neighbour hood to be outside with them. "Maybe tomorrow?" I know damn well I'm not coming out tomorrow. "Promise?" "Boy I dont even know you to promise you anything." I giggled. "Damn..cold world." What? Did he just say cold world? "Boy what you know about a cold world?" "Shit I know there's no snuggies." He's a J.Cole fan just like me ! "Keep this up and I may come out..." I drawed waiting for his name. "Marcus." His hazel eyes twinkled complimenting his chocolate skin. "Alright Marcus." I smiled, shut my window and closed my drapes leaving Marcus standing under my window.
